Interior design consultations

Our 1-to-1 interior design consultations are for when you don’t need a full redesign, just clear, thoughtful guidance from someone who really understands how homes (and families) work. They’re also a great first step for clients who are planning a larger project and want to shape the scope, direction and priorities through a one-to-one conversation with a designer.

Whether you’re struggling with the layout of a room, unsure how to bring colour in, or looking for the right pieces to pull a space together, these sessions give you focused, practical advice tailored to you, your home and your budget. We’ll help you make confident decisions, from furniture and storage to finishes, lighting and those final details that make a room feel right. It’s a flexible way to access our expertise, with the option to continue working together if your project develops further.

Client testimonial

We recently engaged Joanna to design and project manage the refurbishment of our daughters’ bedrooms and playroom. We could not be happier with the result and could not recommend Joanna enough. Not only is she a talented designer, she is also a joy to work with. Our girls are thrilled. Our only regret is that she does not do grown-up rooms! Thank you, Joanna, for everything.

Consultation FAQs

  • The consultation typically lasts around 90 minutes and is usually held one-to-one and in person. For clients based further afield, or where appropriate, consultations can also take place via video.

During the meeting, we’ll review your project and any other areas you’d like to discuss, talk through the overall scope of the work, and consider your family lifestyle and how you use the space. We’ll also discuss functionality, budget, aesthetics and timeline.

Following our meeting, we’ll prepare an inspiration and sourcing board. This will include ideas for layout, decorative pieces, fittings and hard finishes, including colours and materials that I feel would work well for you. I’ll also prepare an estimate of my design fees and give you a tentative figure of the overall project spend.

The cost for the consultation is £350 plus VAT.

  • Yes, we’re happy to use Google Meet or FaceTime if that’s easier for you. We’ll confirm the details ahead of the session.

  • Once your consultation is booked, we’ll ask you to complete a short client questionnaire and share a few details in advance, such as photos, measurements (if you have them), and any specific questions or areas you’d like help with.

This helps us understand your space, your needs and what you’d like to get out of the session, so we can make the consultation as focused and useful as possible.

  • You can share photos, videos, floor plans or measurements ahead of time, and you’re also welcome to walk us through the space live during the call using your phone or laptop camera.

  • A lot.

During the 90-minute consultation, we can help you clarify layouts, colour choices, furniture direction, storage ideas and the overall design approach. We’ll talk through what matters most for your space and priorities, giving you clear direction and practical next steps.

Following the session, this thinking is brought together into a design proposal, so you’re not left trying to remember everything discussed.

  • If we feel more time would be helpful, we can either book an additional consultation or discuss moving into one of our design services. There’s no pressure. We’ll always guide you towards what makes the most sense for your project.

  • We’ll share considered ideas and references that suit your space, lifestyle and budget covering furniture, lighting, finishes and styling elements.

Rather than a fixed list of specific products to purchase, recommendations focus on inspiration and overall direction, helping you define a clear look and feel. This gives you a strong framework to source pieces that work for your home, either independently or as part of a wider design process.

  • Payment is made in full at the time of booking to secure your consultation slot. Full details will be provided during the booking process.

  • You can book directly using the calendar above. Simply select a date and time that works for you and complete the booking.

Once confirmed, you’ll receive all the details you need ahead of the session.

  • We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice. This allows us to offer the time to another client.

Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment may incur a cancellation fee.
